Description
This Colt Model 1877 Lightning is a fine example of Colt’s first double-action revolver, manufactured in 1902. Chambered in .38 Long Colt, the Lightning features the distinctive “bird’s head” grip frame and was favored for its faster double-action capability over the classic Single Action Army.
This revolver retains matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and butt. The blued finish is in excellent condition, with 90% or more coverage remaining. The checkered hard rubber grips, adorned with Colt medallions, show only light wear. Mechanically, the revolver functions flawlessly in both single and double action, with only minimal wobble noted in the hammer and cylinder. The bore is somewhat dirty but retains strong rifling.
Collectors and Colt enthusiasts will appreciate this example for its historical significance, high condition level.
